Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of libraries

I found this passage to be very interesting:

What are libraries? Libraries are not just collections of documents and books, they are conversations, they are convocations of people, ideas, and artifacts in dynamic exchange. Libraries are not merely in communities, they are communities: they preserve and promote community memories; they provide mentors not only for the exploration of stored memory, but also for the creation of new artifacts of memory.

Technorati

I doing a search for "Learning 2.0" I came up with things that I would have never thought would have came up.

DEL.ICIO.US

This lesson is pretty neat. I like to see how others feel about things on the web. This can be of a big help in the long run or even now. This tool is very useful.

JaxCat Search Gadget

It was quit easy to add this handy gadget to your blogger. I find this gadget to be helpful in many ways.

Library Thing

I thought it would be more to it. You can just look up things by one word and then they have a list of things pop up. I found this to be easy due to me working in the library.

Image Generator

Make your own free clipart like this @ www.TXT2PIC.com with free web based tools (hundreds of image generators that run through a web broswer, no software to buy or install).
Made with free image tools @ TXT2PIC.com

This is something new. I really enjoyed this lesson. I will be using this to add to my web page and also other things. I used the comic strip generator and just added text to the image. I don't know where people come up with different things when working with the computers. Computers are getting more complexed and more exciting when you find out what you can really do on the internet.

RSS Feeds

I never knew what RSS meant until this exercise came out. I think it is very interesting and different. I think copying the sites URL is much easier because I don't know to much about RSS. I have used URL's to link people to my online pages but never the RSS. These exercises are getting more and more interesting. They really put your mind into the world of computers.
